Notice of Town Board meetings on 04/17/23 and 04/18/23
The outgoing Town Board will have a meeting on Monday, 04/17/23 starting at 10 am at the Town Hall. An agenda for the meeting will be posted shortly. They will also have a short meeting on 04/18/23 at 5:45 p.m. just prior to the start of the annual meeting. The only purpose of that meeting will be to approve the minutes of the 04/17/23 meeting.
Postponed Board Meeting
The board meeting originally scheduled to take place on Tuesday evening, 04/18/23 following the annual meeting has been postponed. It will be rescheduled by the new board and an agenda posted in the near future.

Call the Annual Meeting of the Town of Sampson, Chippewa County to order under the authority and directions of Sec. 60.11 of the Wisconsin Statutes.
Stand for the Pledge of Allegiance
Ask if all present have signed the poll list. Ask if there are any non-residents present. (Only electors in the Town of Sampson can vote on any motions. Electors are defined as people who claim Sampson as their primary residence and have resided in the Township for at least 10 days.)
All motions and seconds must come from the floor. Agenda items:

2023 tax roll examination and open book

2023 Assessment Roll Notice
Notice is hereby given that the 2023 Assessment Roll for the Town of Sampson, Chippewa County will be available for examination starting on Monday, April 10th at the Sampson Town Hall. Please call the Clerk, Sue Gehl, at 715-967-2050 for an appointment. The Town Assessor, Randy Procknow, will be present for Open Book on Monday, April 17th from 10:00 a.m. until noon at the Sampson Town Hall located at 10770 270th Ave New Auburn WI. Board of Review will be held on Thursday, May 18th from 9:00-11:00 am.
Spring Road Bans
ALL TOWN ROADS WILL BE BANNED FROM LOADS OVER 10 Tons starting this Thursday, March 9th. They will remain in effect until further notice. The Town of Sampson follows the same schedule as Chippewa County. Propane, septic, and milk haulers are exempt but are asked to use the shortest route possible to reach their destination. Any other exemptions must be obtained from the town chairman prior to hauling and will be examined on a case by case basis. Violators will be cited by the Sheriff’s office or the State Patrol.

ELECTION NOTICE
TOWN OF SAMPSON, CHIPPEWA COUNTY
VOTING BY ABSENTEE BALLOT FOR THE PRIMARY TO BE HELD ON TUESDAY, April 4th, 2023
Any qualified elector who is unable or unwilling to appear at the polling place on Election Day may submit a request to vote an absentee ballot to their municipal clerk. A qualified elector is any U.S. citizen, who will be 18 years of age or older on Election Day, who has resided in the ward or municipality where he or she wishes to vote for at least 28 consecutive days before the election. The elector must also be registered in order to receive an absentee ballot. Proof of identification must be provided before an absentee ballot may be issued.
You must make a request for an absentee ballot in writing or online at MyVote.wi.gov.
Contact your municipal clerk and request that an application for an absentee ballot be sent to you for the primary or election or both. You may also submit a written request in the form of a letter or you may apply for an absentee ballot online at MyVote.wi.gov. Your written request must list your voting address within the municipality where you wish to vote, the address where the absentee ballot should be sent, if different, and your signature. You may make application to your municipal clerk for an absentee ballot in person, by mail, by fax, by email or at MyVote.wi.gov.
Making application to receive an absentee ballot by mail
The deadline for making application to receive an absentee ballot by mail is:
5 pm on the fifth day before the election, March 30th, 2023.
Note: Special absentee voting application provisions apply to electors who are indefinitely confined to home or a care facility, in the military, hospitalized, or serving as a sequestered juror. If this applies to you, contact the municipal clerk regarding deadlines for requesting and submitting an absentee ballot.
Voting an absentee ballot in person
You may also request and vote an absentee ballot in the clerk’s office or other specified location during the days and hours specified for casting an absentee ballot in person.

No in-person absentee voting may occur on the day before the election.
The municipal clerk will deliver voted ballots returned on or before Election Day to the proper polling place or counting location before the polls close on April 4th, 2023. Any ballots received after the polls close will not be counted.
